NEW DATA ON EARLY PALAEOZOIC PTEROBRANCHS

Forms described by Kozlowski are revised and a new taxonomy is proposed for Rhabdopleurida. Some genera
(Cylindrotheca Eisenack, Kystodendron Kozlowski) classified previously as hydroids are identified as rhabdopleurids and
five new taxa are designated. The astogenesis of Rhabdopleurites primaevus Kozlowski is reconstructed and new type of
stolonal tubes (without zig-zag suture and fuselli) have been recorded. The ultrastructure of dormant bud cysts, stolons
and stolonal tubes is studies in several forms. A congenerity of Rhabdopleurites with some forms described previously as
tuboid or stolonoid graptolites and hydroids is suggested. Genus Pterobranchites Kozlowski described previously as a
cephalodsicid pterobranch is identified as an incertae ordinis graptolite.
